Ardexus powers efficiency & convenience at AMETEK PPD

AMETEK PPD manufactures the well-known industry brands of Elgar, Sorensen, California Instruments, Power Ten and Argantix.

PPD boasts one of the industry’s broadest portfolios of programmable power products, serving a wide range of general purpose applications in industry segments as diverse as semiconductor fabrication equipment and oil exploration. PPD’s expertise in precision power conversion and control allows them to offer application-specific solutions to four primary industry segments: General Commercial & Industrial; Government & Defense; Energy & Utilities; and Commercial Aerospace & Aviation.

Programmable Power was previously using a DOS-based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool which needed replacing. Information such as quotes and customer history were stored across several databases, which made reporting and collaboration difficult and did not provide the ability for sales teams on the road to easily share or update information. They had been evaluating CRM packages such as, Sugar and Oracle for some time. None of these options were suitable because of the many modifications that would be required for implementation.

Grant Moore, Manager of Contracts and Sales Administration for Programmable Power, was the project champion and was tasked with identifying and implementing a CRM package to provide better visibility for sales opportunities. He needed a solution that was easy to use and accessible to the outside sales team on a real time basis. In addition, he was responsible for integrating the Sales side with the Customer Service side so that the Sales team could have clear visibility to all customer activity in one application. Finally, the Customer Service effort was to be consolidated under one software program to cover issuing RMA’s, status requests, repair history, shipping history and customer communications.

PPD’s implementation was completed within two months. This included installation of hardware and software, training, customization of Ardexus MODE to suit PPD’s business processes, data import from the old CRM system, final configurations and end-user training.

Ardexus MODE has brought PPD’s entire group together with all company information neatly stored in a common application. This enables shared visibility to all quotes and immediate updates to all sales reps including those on the road. Salespeople on-site can see a customer synopsis and a complete history of what has taken place at that particular site. They can see what projects are currently under way and are now able to generate reports based on specific criteria, including the ability to report on any field at any time. AMETEK Programmable Power Division is now experiencing significant increases in sales efficiency and improved effectiveness of their sales efforts.
